It’s been a bit since I’ve written about Jack. I’m happy to say he got his first peaceful trim in probably forever. He came to me with lots of “bad behavior for trim” reports and he hadn’t successfully had all 4 trimmed in at least 6 months. His feet were pretty wonky from malnutrition and funky growth. I was lucky to have my friend Elizabeth help me handle his feet, and my farrier and Jack got along just peachy for his trim. He stood calmly and stayed relaxed for the entire time, which was very nice for all of us to see.
Since then, Jack has been doing lots of leading, exploring new places, stepping over, under, and through challenging things, and ponying off of my saddle horses. He seems to be finding new confidence and comfort in his own skin, and getting along better with my herd. He is still working through some braces and learning to change his understanding of the lead rope, but he is all in all happy to learn, happy to try, and happy to be around people right now. He’s also starting to get pretty cuddly, which is nice to see.
I’m hoping once he gets going a little better someone will fall in love with him and take him home – I think he has a lot to offer 🙂
