On Deserving

This isn’t exactly a horse related post, but here goes.

This is a hard time for everyone. Everyone is experiencing some degree of fear or worry. Some can’t be where they want to be or do what they want to do. Some have lost work or jobs, some have lost places to live or lost loved ones. There isn’t a person who isn’t affected by this pandemic.

When fear or worry set in, it’s easy to feel anger, look for someone to blame, to hoard resources and to shut ourselves in from others. There might be others around you in need. It’s easy to think there isn’t enough, and those who don’t have enough should have prepared better, should have done something different, that this must somehow be their fault.

My mom talks a lot about deserving. We all think others should get justice, what they deserve, but expect mercy for ourselves. That has sunk in to my thinking a lot over the years. What would you do if it were you? How would you feel in someone else’s shoes, and what would you want?

I know it feels like there isn’t enough to go around right now, but if you have a little extra, find someone who needs it more than you, and reach out.

Collectively, we can get through something like this with a little caring for one another, and you can be proud of your actions when we get through to the other side.

Here is a picture of the things I love most.
Have a beautiful day,
Amy
